Sad news from release testing - unfortunately a bug was discovered during the process which has lead to us pulling the game from Peer Review. Since the bug was found, we've uncovered a problem with our source code management system which meant that a number of fixes which we implemented were not consolidated in to the distributable. We've now reconciled all the code, and checked through every single line (hence the relative quiet around these parts for the last few days).
So what happens now? Well, we've drawn up an extended testing plan to make sure ALL the fixes and improvements we've made over the last month (yes, the problem's been going on that long) are in and working. Once we've been through all those tests, we'll go back to release testing. This is slated for 23rd December 2009, so we'll be lucky to make it out to market much before New Years Day 2010. What a great way to start a new year!
We'd like to thank all the many tweeters who're continuing to contribute to Space Pirates pre-release publicity, and present now the current top-5 traffic generators:
1 - HODSEY77 2 - WANYAL 3 - IIRADD 4 - ZANDEN09 5 - ALEE76
It's really very tight at the top, and there are others starting to make a challenge to get in to the top 5. By way of encouragement, we're adding a free code for Carrum for the winner of the contest.
Finally, a big thankyou to shacknews, DIYGamer, the good folk at the XNA Creators Club for help with testing and bughunting, to xblig.co.uk for their constant enthusiasm for Xbox Live Indie Games, and to you Constant Gamer for popping by and hopefully getting excited about Space Pirates! If you don't visit beforehandm have a wonderful, restful and relaxed Christmas.
All of our love, The MStar Games Team
